The towering central defender has left Ajax Cape Town to join Gavin Hunt's Bidvest Wits next season

Bidvest Wits are expected to announce the signing of Matthew Booth after the former Bafana Bafana defender passed a medical with the club on Sunday.

Booth's signature should be confirmed soon according to Kickoff, with the experienced central defender looking for consistent football at his new club.

Booth made 23 starts for Ajax Cape Town during the 2012/2013 campaign, while he came off the bench five times during last season.

The central defender's future at the Urban Warriors has been under question for some time now, with SuperSport United rumoured to be interested in acquiring his services, but Booth decided to choose Wits instead. 

Booth will join new signing Benjani Mwauwari at the Clever Boys, as Gavin Hunt begins to make his mark on his new side with a couple of high profile signings.
