Orlando Pirates fans might be frustrated with the way their club performed under coach Roger de Sa in the recently completed PSL season, but the club chairman Dr Irvin Khoza seems to have faith in the former Bidvest Wits mentor.
Khoza revealed that they are busy with the technical team’s reports submitted by the coach at the end of the season, and he admitted that the reports look impressive.
“Roger came mid-way through the season and we are busy dealing with the reports of the technical committee. Unfortunately he had to go to Portugal, so I didn’t have a chance to get him. They are interesting reads (referring to the technical team’s reports),” Khoza said on Metro FM.

The Pirates chairman confirmed that he is still going to have a formal meeting with Roger de Sa as to plot the way forward based on the reports that he submitted, but he added that the coach must promise to overcome the challenges the team experienced if he still wants to continue as Pirates coach next season.
“The discussion that we are going to have will be based on what we have observed in the reports, but we will see if he gives us the comfort to say he is going to overcome those problems, and then we are going to keep him,” said Khoza.
“However, if he is not going to give us the comfort, then it is another discussion all together, but I guess the man came mid-way as I have said and there were about eight of our players injured which were core of the team and people forget that this team, as much as we didn’t defend (three titles), April was the turning point in the season and I guess we need to evaluate that also,” added Khoza.
Khoza also confirmed that Pirates are more than willing to keep Tlou Segolela in the team, and he revealed that they have took the initiative to convince the speedy winger to stay in Parktown.
“I spoke to him and we agreed with him in our discussion. We agreed with him on the terms in the meeting we had with him last week Tuesday or Wednesday. He is supposed to be signing,” revealed Khoza.
However, the chairman made it clear that he is not going to stand in Segolela’s way, should the player decides to quit Pirates for another PSL club.
“For now I will be waiting for Tlou to finish his national team call-up and he comes back to his club. If he decides to go, so be it, but he belongs to Pirates for now,” concluded Khoza.
