thumbnail Hello,

Sthembiso Ngcobo's hopes of returning back home in Durban and playing for AmaZulu are over since Chiefs coach Baxter has made it clear that he has plans for him

The agent’s player, Xolani Nhleko of Prosport International told Goal.com South Africa that negotiations with AmaZulu have come to an end and the player will stay with Chiefs. He said Baxter made it clear  there is no way that he is letting go of the player.

“Yes, it such a sad reality, AmaZulu wanted him but the Chiefs coach said he has plans for him. At this stage in time there is nothing that has been done because AmaZulu did not push the matter further and they respected the coach’s word,” said Nhleko.

The striker's career was racing along successfully when he was playing at Durban Stars where he netted 19 goals in just 25 outings and soon that gave the Free State Stars management the foresight to sign him.

Even then on his first season at top flight football he got a call up to the national team. All this seems like a dream now since moving to Chiefs in the 2010-11 season, because he has only made 23 appearances and scored only three goals.

Nhleko said it would have been great for him to make a move because he was going to get some game time, but if the coach feels he needs him there isn’t much that can be done.

"Well, Ngcobo is a good player and it just fortunate that he has not been much of a success with Chiefs. We are hoping that when the season resumes the coach will use him productively as he promised,” said Nhleko.

Nhleko said he understands the frustration of AmaZulu whose club is now sitting at the bottom of the log, but they should learn to live with that for now.

“That's how it is, Ngcobo is still with Chiefs and I guess we just have to live with it,” he said.
