Chippa United have begun to show their hand during the January transfer window as they are close to signing Mark Mayambela and Mbulelo Mabizela. Mayambela has been unable to break into the Orlando Pirates fold since joining the club and is looking to revive his career at the Chilli Boyz. Mabizela has been transfer listed at Wits and Chippa are interested to closing out a deal with the former Bafana Bafana captain.
Chippa have also signed a one-and-a-half year deal for former goalkeeper Tashrique Goldman. Goldman was signed by Pretoria University at the beginning of the campaign but has failed to find a place in the starting line-up due to Washington Arubi's form. He will return to his old club which is looking to bolster their quest for survival in the PSL.
Thando Mdluli has been handed a trial at Bidvest Wits, as Clive Barker seeks to improve his new club's defensive capabilities. Mdluli has been languishing in the South Africa's second tier of football and will hope he can impress Barker enough to earn a spot in the Clever Boys squad.
Meanwhile Fikru Lemessa has returned to South African shores once more, as he is set to join Free State Stars for the remainder of the season, with an option to extend his contract. Lemessa is an experienced PSL campaigner with tenures at Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United. The Ethiopian striker returns from a brief stint in Vietnam.
