'This Barcelona is not dead' - Luis Fernandez

The former France international believes that despite a hammering at the hands of Bayern Munich, the current Blaugrana crop can still go on to enjoy much success
Ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Fernandez says Barcelona are not "dead" following their Champions League humiliation on Tuesday night.

The Catalans won the competition in 2009 and 2011 and have all but wrapped up the Liga title this term, but despite their success in recent years, Bayern Munich left the club on the verge of a semi-final exit with a 4-0
humbling of Tito Vilanova's side.

And with some quarters of the media tipping a shift in power in European football, Fernandez has leapt to Barcelona's defence, insisting that they remain a force to be reckoned with.

"We love this Barca, this Barca is not dead! Barcelona, it's a game, it's a style, it is not finished," he said on his RMC show.

"When we look at what there is behind [the side], training, young people who go up [to the first team], it works. The day after the game against Bayern I was at the training centre. When you see the youth, the application, the style, it has to be said that it will remain.

"We'll still enjoy this team. They fell against a team who knew how to play them."

Barcelona will face Bayern in the second-leg of their Champions League final on May 1 at Camp Nou.
