Iniesta: Barcelona defeat will come sooner or later
The Spain international is eager to keep up their current form until the end of the season, but realises they could be edging ever-closer to a first Liga defeat of the campaign
Andres Iniesta realises that it is inevitable that Barcelona will eventually lose a game in La Liga, but the attacking midfielder is determined to extend their unbeaten run as long as possible. The Blaugrana beat Malaga 3-1 on Sunday evening to make it 18 wins from 19 league matches, drawing the remaining game with Real Madrid, and they currently hold an 11-point lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid in the Primera Division.
"Sooner or later that fist defeat will come," Iniesta was quoted as saying on Barcelona's official website.
"We’ll try to extend our undefeated streak as long as we can, though. We feel great and our first half of the season was nearly impeccable.
"However, these kinds of numbers only mean something at the end of the season. We want to be on the same form in May.
"The individual talent that each player brings to the table helps the team, and with hard work and sacrifice we get the desired results."
Barcelona meet Malaga again in the first leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final on Wednesday.
