Mourinho: I don't mind the fans' whistles as long as they support the team
The controversial coach remains unperturbed by the supporters hostile attitude, and feels goalkeeper Antonio Adan's dismissal after just six minutes was a harsh decision
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has insisted that he does not mind the fans jeering him as long as they support the team, while he feels that there's a lack of respect toward shot-stopper Antonio Adan, who has taken Iker Casillas' place as first-choice goalkeeper at the Blancos.Mourinho was whistled at by his own fans ahead of Sunday's 4-3 Liga win over Real Sociedad following his decision to once more bench Casillas, but the flamboyant coach remains unperturbed.
"It's perfect for me if the fans whistle me before the game and then support the team during the match," the Portuguese coach said at a press conference.
"I've told Adan ahead of the game that the whistles are not directed at him. The fans and the press don't have a problem with him, but with me.
"In my opinion there's a lack of respect toward Adan. He's a Canterano and has been at this club for 16 years. There seems to be a problem with me, which is turning into a lack of respect to Adan."
Adan received his marching orders early in the game after a foul on Carlos Vela, and Mourinho feels the straight red card was harsh on the shot-stopper.
He added: "I feel that [Raphael] Varane gave a poor pass and then Adan made a mistake as well. It's probably a penalty as Sociedad could have scored, but it was not a red card for me.
"I might be wrong here, but we always seem to get punished when a situation is doubtful."
Real Madrid remain third in the Liga table with 36 points from 18 games.
