Villa's future 'in Barcelona's hands', admits agent
The forward has been linked with a Premier League move after being restricted to cameo appearances this season, but his representative insists he will not force a transfer
David Villa’s future is in the hands of Barcelona, according to his agent Victor Onate.
The Spain international has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal mooted as potential destinations for the ex-Valencia man, who has reportedly become tired of a bit-part role at Camp Nou.
But the managing director of VOS Marketing - which represents the forward - insist that Villa will respect the contract he has signed unless Barca allow him to leave.
"There is always speculation about David because he is a great forward, but his future is in the hands of Barcelona," Onate told Sky Sports.
"They have a contract and it is important to always respect such documents."
The 31-year-old’s current deal runs until 2014 and it would still come as a surprise if coach Tito Vilanova sanctioned the departure of the striker in the January transfer window.
