Amajimbos draw with Tanzania in first leg

Amajimbos (SA-under 17) played to a goalless draw against Tanzania at the Azam Stadium in their 2015 first-leg, second round African Youth Championship qualifier on Friday
Playing in front of a half-full 7000 seater stadia in Dar-Es-Salaam, both sides started well and had a go at each other, but it was the visitors who had the better chances.

They also had the lions share of possession and through that they created quite a lot of chances, but South Africa were let down by poor finishing. They were however forced to make two early changes when both Adolph Mtasingwa and Abdullah Jumanee were replaced by Kelvin Farrell and Mashaka Mgujiro through injury respectively, but they both did very little to liven up the game and steer Amajimbos to victory.

In the second half, the Serengeti Boys started the better of the two and were unlucky not to find the net as they managed to create some meaningful chances.

The Amajimbos could have walked away with the victory late on when striker Khanyisa Mayo went through twice toward the Tanzanian keeper Metacha Mnata, but on both instances he squandered the opportunities.

The second-leg will be played on the weekend of August 1-3 in Johannesburg, with the aggregate winner booking a ticket to next February's AYC finals in Niger.
