The Premier Soccer League announced the opening round of fixtures for the new season at their headquarters in Parktown on Thursday morning. Bucs will take on Swallows first
The opening PSL matches will take place on the weekend of the 8th to 10th August.
All eyes will be on newcomers Chippa United, when the NFD league champions go up against 8th positioned Platinum Stars. After a dominant season in the NFD, and much controversy in the coaching department, football fans will be eager to see if the Chilly Boys can hold their own in the top flight.
PSL league winners Mamelodi Sundowns open up their campaign against a stern Maritzburg United. The Brazilians ended off their previous campaign with a 1-1 draw against The Team of Choice. Sundowns will surely look to get off to a winning start in the new season.
The mighty AmaKhosi will feature against Free State Stars who narrowly escaped the Promotion/Relegation Playoffs. Following a disappointing anti-climax for Chiefs, coach Stuart Baxter will reiterate the importance to his side of stamping their dominance from the start.
Orlando Pirates host Moroka Swallows, and it will be interesting to see if The Buccaneers could continue on the high note they ended on, after winning the Nedbank Cup.
