Kaizer Chiefs will look to keep the pressure on title chasers and log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns when they play Polokwane City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.

AmaKhosi are three points behind the Brazilians with a game in hand, and they can reclaim their top spot with a win over City, if Sundowns fail to get a result against MP Black Aces in the other match.

On the other hand, Rise and Shine are still battling to move away from the relegation zone and they will be aiming for nothing less than an upset against their Soweto opponents.

Boebie Solomons' charges are three points in front of 15th-placed Free State Stars although they have played a game more than Ea Lla Koto, but getting three points tonight could enhance their chances of staying up next season.

City have already claimed big wins this season - beating Sundowns and Orlando Pirates - but they are yet to beat AmaKhosi this term despite meeting them on two occasions.

The Polokwane-based outfit will keep their faith on the in-form attacker Puleng Tlolane to unsettle AmaKhosi and add to his tally of goals this season. Tlolane is City's leading goalscorer with seven league goals, and it will be interesting to see how he copes with the likes of Tefu Mashamaite, Morgan Gould and possibly Erick Mathoho at the back.

Chiefs have George Lebese back on song after netting two goals in their previous encounter against SuperSport United. All eyes will be on the Mamelodi-born left-footed midfielder to see if he can replicate his form and help AmaKhosi get back to winning ways.

  • Chiefs lost their last two league games, surrendering their top spot to Sundowns.
  • AmaKhosi's biggest victory of the season came against both Polokwane City and Golden Arrows (4-1).
  • In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and City have met twice in all competitions this season, with Chiefs winning both games.
  • Rise and Shine have won five of the 13 home games so far this term, while Chiefs have won seven of their 12 away games.
