Free State Stars aware of Kaizer Chiefs' interest in Nomandela

Nomandela could still end up in one of the Gauteng clubs, but his future will only be decided by Free State Stars as he’s still contracted to them

Free State Stars PRO Lebohang Maketa has confirmed to Goal that the club is aware of Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in Luyolo Nomandela.

Nomandela hasn’t been seeing enough game time for Ea Lla Koto this season which has led to reports that the player is trying to force a move away from the club.

But Maketa has come out to reveal that Nomandela’s limited game time at Stars is purely based on his performance than anything else.

“We are aware that several Gauteng teams are interested in Nomandela, including Kaizer Chiefs,” Maketa told Goal. “But that’s not the reason why he hasn’t been playing regularly this season.

“The competition for places in this team is amazing, and every player needs to fight for his position. So, it’s more about his recent performances than being wanted by Chiefs,” revealed Maketa.

The 24-year-old Nomandela broke into the Bafana setup earlier this year having finished as the club top goalscorer for the 2012/2013 season.
