The Bafana shot-stopper reportedly suffered a knock in the first half of Chiefs’ 4-1 win over Polokwane City on Wednesday, but he has been given the green light to face FS Stars

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune will be available for their Saturday’s league encounter at Free State Stars.

Khune was replaced before the start of the second half during Chiefs’ midweek win over Polokwane City, and it was later revealed that he had a knock.

And coach Stuart Baxter handed young goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse his AmaKhosi debut, but Vina Maphosa, Chiefs’ corporate and communications manager, has confirmed that Khune will play.

“Khune has been cleared to play against Free State Stars,” Maphosa told Goal.

Meanwhile, Maphosa also confirmed that Chiefs will not be contesting Josta Dladla’s red card although it is within the club’s right to have the red card rescinded after the replay showed that Dladla was incorrectly shown yellow during the Polokwane City game.

“The club will not be taking any actions towards getting the red card overturned,” said Maphosa.

Dladla’s red card opens doors for Siboniso Gaxa to walk straight into the starting line-up against Ea Lla Koto after serving his one-match ban.
