Roger de Sa facing defensive crisis at Orlando Pirates

Pirates had to recall Lucky Lekgwathi for their Caf Champions League second leg final in Cairo after Happy Jele’s suspension was confirmed by Caf, but the injuries are adding up

Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa should be having a headache going into this weekend’s league clash against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Orlando Stadium.

This comes after the club’s vice captain Happy Jele received his fourth yellow card of the season during Wednesday’s win away to Maritzburg United which rules him out of Pirates' next match.

Siyabonga Sangweni, Patrick Phungwayo and Rooi Mahamutsa are all out with injuries, and De Sa's only option will certainly be Bheki Nzunga.

Nzunga last played a competitive match during Bucs' Caf Champions League clash against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi, and although he consistently makes the 18-man squad, his match fitness will definitely create doubt.

The Buccaneers have only conceded two goals from their first four games, but it could be difficult for them to maintain that good record if they are to chop and change their back four.

Pirates are currently lying bottom of the PSL log with seven points, but a win against Celtic should see them climb the ladder depending on other teams' results.
