thumbnail Hello,

Pirates coach Roger de Sa gave nothing away when asked if Lekgwathi will feature against Chiefs on Saturday, saying the 37-year-old defender must wait for his chance

Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa couldn’t confirm if the club’s captain Lucky Lekgwathi will be available for selection for this weekend’s Soweto Derby.

Lekgwathi has apparently been suspended by the Pirates’ management following his public comments about the club a few weeks ago.

And although Pirates are a bit depleted at the back with both Patrick Phungwayo and Siyabonga Sangweni out injured, De Sa said Lekgwathi will have to wait for his chance.

“Lekgwathi is a player like Mabena, Gabuza etc. He’s working hard, but he will have to convince me that he is good enough to play in the team.

“He has been working hard at training, but he must wait for his time,” De Sa told reporters.

The Bucs tactician revealed that it would be very difficult for him to drop any of the players for the sake of playing Lekgwathi, as the team has been doing well without the veteran defender.

Ayanda Gcaba, who partnered Rooi Mahamutsa against Esperance in Tunis last weekend, is expected to get the nod ahead of Lekgwathi.

Pirates lost their MTN 8 final to Platinum Stars with Lekgwathi out in the stands, but they have gone on to reach the final and the semi-finals of the Caf Champions League and Telkom Knockout Cup respectively.
