Following Sundowns 2-1 win over Bidvest Wits, Mosimane earmarked Khama Billiat as the team's most important player

Mamelodi Sundowns held off a dangerous Bidvest Wits outfit in order to seal a vital 2-1 win at Loftus Verveld Stadium on Saturday evening, with the attacking talent of star midfielder Khama Billiat coming to the fore.

Billiat was an ever-present threat throughout the match, setting up the Brazilian's first goal and scoring the team's second from close range.

Sundowns are unbeaten this season and coach Pitso Mosimane believes that Billiat is one of the main reasons his side has reversed their fortunes after a poor PSL campaign last season.

"If he goes on like this, he will be player of the season, let’s be honest. He comes through and carries Sundowns, look at the chances he makes for us. He scored today, he hit the post last week, man of the match against Golden Arrows," said Mosimane,

“I think we need to help this boy, to be where he wants. He is happy, this boy has got something, we wish him all the best.”

Speaking after his five-star performance, Billiat remained humble and credited his teammates, but did promise that he will score more goals for Sundowns as the season progresses.

“I give credit to Kennedy who saved us a lot, we managed to work as a team defensively. I think it was a team effort," said Billiat.

“I give credit to Zungu who rose his head and saw me make a run, they [the creative players] are there to help me look good.

“My first goal for the team was a great feeling, this is the beginning of me scoring goals, and helping the team to succeed.”
