Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa admitted to Goal that they are a bit dejected following their Caf Champions League defeat to AC Leopards in Congo this past weekend.

However, the Buccaneers are back in Orlando for their second league game of the season against Polokwane City, and De Sa says they’re ready and hungry for domestic football.

“We kind of expected it to be a tough game, but we are over it now and we are looking forward to our next game. We are really hungry for domestic football and looking at how we have prepared ourselves, I think we are ready for Polokwane City,” De Sa told Goal.

Pirates are expected to rest a few of their regulars for the Wednesday clash, but Roger de Sa says they are going to make changes that, at the same time, will win them the game.

He is also happy to welcome the likes of Kermit Erasmus and Thamsanqa Gabuza who are not eligible to play Caf Champions League football.

“We are going to make a few changes to the team, because I think we will need to rest a few of our guys for the tough two games next week.

“But we are not going to make radical changes for the sake of rotation and giving others a rest. We will be making changes that will also give us maximum points against Polokwane City.”

“There are players who are not eligible to play in the Caf Champions League, and I think they need to be given a break also because they’re eligible to play in the PSL,” he said.

The Pirates coach says this will be a tricky encounter for them, because they are facing a wounded lion that can strike back at anytime, but he says winning against Polokwane City is non-negotiable.

“It’s very difficult to prepare for a team that hasn’t won a single game; because somewhere somehow they will turn the corner and you are thinking that it might be you.”

“Having said that though, I think it will be a tough game for both teams, but we need to start collecting maximum points as early as possible this season,” added De Sa.
