Lekgwathi wants Pirates to restore South Africa's reputation

Orlando Pirates' Lucky Lekgwathi wants to beat AC Leopards because Bafana failed to qualify for the Fifa World Cup in Brazil

The captain believes his Orlando Pirates team has the responsibility of making the nation proud again.

“All the hopes of the nation lies on us now, after Bafana Bafana failed to qualify to the World Cup in Brazil next year. We are not only representing Orlando Pirates this time but the entire country. It is important for us to make sure that we advance to the finals of this cup,” he told Isolzwe.

Lekgwathi said they are aware that they will have to dig deep if they want to beat AC Leopards on Saturday.

“We are prepared to win this match and we are aware of what we need to expect. We spoke to some of the players from Zamalek and they warned us about the things that we should expect when going to this match,” he said.

Although it is never easy playing away from home, Legkwathi said they are not willing to disappoint the South African fans.

“Getting a good result will make our path much easier as we will be close to achieving our goal. We are closer than we think and this is not a time to panic, but we must stay focused and believe in ourselves,” he said.
