thumbnail Hello,

Despite having not won a match yet, University of Pretoria coach Steve Barker is optimistic the team will improve

Speaking to the media the AmaTuks coach said his players were unlucky not to win the PSL match against United.

“At the end of the day, it is about the performance and progressing as a team. I think that is what we are doing at the moment. I am not disappointed at all with the point we got. I think this is better than nothing and things have not been easy in our team in terms of players adapting,” he said.

Although the team finished in the top eight of the log last season, things have not been going quite smoothly for the side now, but Barker believes it is still too early.

“As long as this progression continues we will do well. If you remember last season there was a stage where we played eleven matches, only getting one win and then we managed to bounce back.

“Apart from the fact that some of our players left, but we are waiting for work permits for two internal players that are going to put boots in our team."

The coach also made it clear that he does not miss the services of Mame Niang who banged in the goals last season.

“It is a new season and we have moved on. There are great, young players who are hungry to do well. Come our next match we are going to be a far better team, and a team that is hard to beat,” he said.
