Baxter: The Swallows game not a must-win for Kaizer Chiefs

This comes after their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Pirates in the MTN 8 first leg semi-final on Saturday where Baxter described the first half as absolute ‘disaster’

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has told Goal that it will be easy to motivate his players for their league game against Moroka Swallows on Tuesday night.

AmaKhosi suffered their first home defeat under Baxter last Saturday, but the Chiefs mentor believes his players have recovered from that loss.

“Picking ourselves up could be the easy part, because the players have smarted. So, the players know that going into this one they need to perform,” Baxter told Goal.

Nonetheless, Baxter also believes that this could be a tricky encounter for Chiefs, as Swallows are also eager to do well this season having struggled in the previous season.

“But again, picking ourselves up could also not be the easy part, because we are playing against a team that also wants to perform.

“It’s a decent team and we’ve got to give a good performance and that will be more than a difficult part,” added Baxter.

Baxter though, doesn’t believe that the Swallows game is a must-win clash for his side, as he feels it is too early for the team to press any panic buttons.

“I wouldn’t agree that this is a must-win game for us. A must-win is when you are at the end of the season and you playing not to get relegated or playing for the championship. If you’re a Chiefs coach, I suppose each game is a must-win,” concluded Baxter.
