Morgan Gould doubtful for the Kaizer Chiefs-Black Aces encounter

The 30-year-old centre-back is still recovering from last season’s knee injury, and Baxter doesn’t want to rush him into action

Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa has told Goal that Morgan Gould could play no part in their league encounter against Mpumalanga Black Aces at the Mbombela Stadium on Friday night.

Gould is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered during Chiefs’ 0-0 draw away to Golden Arrows last season, and although he was introduced late in the Soweto derby last weekend, Maphosa said the fans shouldn’t read too much into it.

“Morgan is still recovering from the knee injury and he might not play against Aces, because the coach said he shouldn’t be rushed into action.

“Yes, he played against Pirates last week, but you can’t really tell if he can go for the entire 90 minutes. The coach will play him when he feels he has fully recovered, but Morgan has been doing well in training,” Maphosa told Goal.

With Gould doubtful for the Aces clash, the usual suspects, Eric Mathoho and Tefu Mashamaite are expected to continue where they left off last season.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that AmaKhosi will have to find a replacement for midfielder George Lebese who will miss tonight’s opener due to suspension.
