Bloemfontein Celtic captured the Mopani Mayoral Cup and Bidvest Wits won a mini-tournament during a number of friendlies involving PSL clubs this weekend
While Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates battled it out for the Black Label Cup, a variety of PSL clubs were in action this weekend, playing club friendlies in preparation for the start of the 2013/2014 season next weekend.
Four clubs descended upon the Bidvest stadium on Saturday for a pre-season mini tournament, with Wits, Platinum Stars, Free State Stars and Golden Arrows taking part.

Wits earned a spot in the final of the tournament by beating Free State Stars in the first semi-final. Golden Arrows joined the Clever Boys in the final with a 2-0 win over Platinum Stars, but the hosts ended the day victorious by defeating Abafana Bes’thende 1-0.
Ajax Cape Town overcame Cape rivals Chippa United 2-1 in a friendly game at the Phillipi Stadium on Sunday, with Lebogang Manyama and Tashreeq Morris finding the back of the net for the Urban Warriors.
More action on Sunday included the Mopani Mayoral Cup, which saw Moroka Swallows, Winners Park, SuperSport United and Bloemfontein Celtic play at the NkowaNkowa Stadium in Tzaneen.
Siwelele won their semi-final against SuperSport 2-0, with Manzini and Nyatama scoring the goals, while Moroka Swallows lost 2-0 against 2nd division outfit Winners Park in the first semi-final of the day.
Celtic were ultimately winners of the cup, beating Winners Park 2-1 in the final during a hard-fought match. Motlhaping and Jooste found the back of the net for Siwelele during the match.
University of Pretoria rounded off the friendlies as they played Perth Glory in Pretoria, ending the match as 2-0 victors.
