Pirates coach Roger De Sa tells Goal that he is impressed with their preparation ahead of the new season
The Pirates mentor revealed that the friendly game (against AmaTuks) served its purpose, as he had a chance to try different combinations.
“It was a game of three halves and a very tiring encounter against tough opponents, but I think it served its purpose which was to try different combinations and give other players a chance,” Roger de Sa told Goal.

De Sa applauded his new signings and loan returnees for their performance against AmaTuks, and he urged the Bucs fans to not put pressure on striker Lennox Bacela.
“They did well overall. Dauda played 90 and kept the clean-sheet, Lennox Bacela played for an hour and he did well too. We don’t want to put pressure on him. (William) Twala and Aubrey Ngoma also played and they did well,” he said.
The former Wits and Santos tactician was clearly unhappy that they didn’t score, but he is positive that goals will come as long as they continue to create goalscoring opportunities.

“We know that we didn’t score today, but we managed to score three goals in our last friendly game. Fans should remember that results are not important in these pre-season games. We created a lot of scoring opportunities, and that’s a good sign” said De Sa.
De Sa is adamant that his Pirates players will produce a much more improved performance against Matlama in Lesotho on Sunday.“We are now looking forward to the Lesotho game on Sunday, but I think our squad is shaping up very well and we will impress in our next game,” concluded De Sa.
