Sifiso Myeni admits that the expectations that come with playing for Orlando Pirates are high, but he says he is ready to fulfil them

Myeni suffered a long term injury midway through last season, but the former Bidvest Wits player says he is ready to fulfil the expectations of the Pirates fans.

“I have to deliver in the new season. I am not putting myself under pressure, but this is the nature of the sport and it is my obligation to fulfil those expectations. Last season wasn’t my best season, but now I have the duty to do well for the team,” said Myeni.

Myeni joined Pirates at the beginning of 2012, but he could not play because of injuries.

However, the 25-year-old midfielder says he is hoping for an injury-free season, as Pirates will try very hard to wrestle their PSL title away from arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

“I know I was brought here, because of the abilities I have to make things happen. I have to show the team that I am here to help. Let us just hope I do not get another long term injuries again.

“I have had all the support and besides our pre-season training has been good so far, something that is giving me hope of having a better season,” he concluded.
