AmaKhosi reveal to Goal that coach Stuart Baxter is the only person to decide whether the team goes to Europe for pre-season training
Kaizer Chiefs are waiting for coach Stuart Baxter to decide on their pre-season program despite media reports claiming that the PSL champions might be going to Italy.
Baxter is still on a holiday in Sweden, but having spent most of his coaching career in Europe, AmaKhosi could find themselves in the same field with the best players in the world.
“Baxter is expected in the country on Saturday, June 29 and that’s when the pre-season plans will be revealed. It’s very difficult for us to comment on behalf of the technical team’s plans,” the Chiefs official tells Goal.

Chiefs held their last pre-season in Rustenburg and managed to win the PSL title and the Nedbank Cup, and they will be looking for another successful campaign.
Meanwhile, AmaKhosi have confirmed their participation in the annual Gauteng Cup scheduled for Saturday, July 21 at the Loftus Stadium.
The format of this year’s edition has changed with only three teams to take part in the tournament including Bloemfontein Celtic and Bidvest Wits.
AmaKhosi will go into this one day tournament as defending champions and for that reason; they are already guaranteed a spot in the final with Wits and Celtic to battle it out in the semi-final.

It remains to be seen whether the Soweto giants will indeed go to Italy with their first pre-season match expected to be on July 14 against Egyptian side Ismaily SC in the Mbombela Challenge although nothing has been confirmed as yet, then followed by the Gauteng Cup seven days later before facing arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup on July 27.
