AmaZulu and United were delighted to announce their hosting of the English Premier League club in South Africa in July
Manchester City's tours to South Africa are being planned as an annual fixture to increase foreign fans in a country that already mostly has Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal supporters.
This time City will battle it out with Usuthu on the 18th of July, which is the birthday of former South African President Dr. Nelson Mandela.
The other PSL team to benefit from the opportunity to rub shoulders with City is SuperSport United, on July 14 at Loftus Versveld in Pretoria.
Marketing manager at AmaZulu, Lunga Sokhela confirmed the news on the Usuthu official website.
“We have reached an agreement with the event organizers which is Matchworld, and as of now we will play Manchester City on the 18th of July,” said Sokhela.
This will not be a new challenge to AmaZulu as they hosted current English Premiership champions Manchester United in a MTN Football Invitational match and Nelson Mandela Day, which finished 1-0 in favour of United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium last year.
Coach Craig Rosslee will be looking at testing his new Usuthu signings and ensuring that his key players are ready for the league.
