Over the years Chiefs have been known for producing the best goalkeepers in South Africa thanks to their coaches
Keeping up with Chiefs past standards will be a challenge with their long-standing goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker finally calling it time at AmaKhosi.
Looking back there was Brian Baloyi, who as a Chiefs goalkeeper excelled more than his time at Sundowns. Other goalkeepers who did well under Dinkerlacker was Rowan Fernandez who went as far as playing overseas.
Fernandez attracted the eyes of German club Arminia Bielefeld which he served for four seasons and his success came after having worked with Dinkelacker.

Whilst most people believed that these goalkeepers were just talented but you have to credit that they had a great a supporting team behind them. The goalkeeper coach arrived at the Naturena in 2001 when former Chiefs coach Mushin Ertugral was in charge.
He worked with players like Emile Baron who was with the Chiefs outfit for four seasons before joining SuperSport United.
Then the coaches true success was seen with the performance of current number one South Africa goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune over the past seasons.

Baloyi was quoted in one of the Isizulu newspapers crediting the impact that the goalkeeper coach had on him and other Chiefs goalkeepers.
“He is the best goalkeeper coach that we have ever had in South Africa. All the goalkeepers that he trained would eventually end up playing for Bafana.
“I sometimes ask myself, why he was never used for Bafana Bafana as he provided a great service,” he said.
As for Dinkelacker's successor at Chiefs, it is believed that his position will be taken by Dennis Rudel who also hails from Germany. Rudel is currently the goalkeeper coach at regional League side VFL Wolfsburg II.
