After displaying impressive form at AmaZulu this season, defender Thamsanqa Teyise has told Goal that he would treasure a Bafana call-up
Goal: How do you feel about your performances this season?
Teyise: It has been a very challenging season, and as you know we had to make sure that we fight to get out of the relegation zone. So I think it has been great because we were able to meet our objective.
Goal: With regards to your own personal experience, what has been your highlight?
Teyise: I think it is the way we performed this year as a team. I wouldn’t want to take the credit but the way we played this year was impressive, as I would like to believe that.
Goal: A lot has been said about your performance, and others even went as far as saying you should be given a chance at Bafana. What is your take on that?
Teyise: Well, it feels good to hear such remarks. I think it is every players dream to represent the country and when your effort is being noticed, it really gives you motivation to persist with hard work.
Goal: Would you say that you are now ready to play for the national team?
Teyise: That is a difficult question, but hey I think I am ready to be part of it. If given an opportunity I would most definitely grasp it with both hands.
Goal: What do you think were some of the attributes to your consistent performances?
Teyise: It has been nothing but hard work, and also enjoying what I do.
Goal: You seem to be very comfortable at AmaZulu, but would you consider joining another club next season?
Teyise: Firstly, it has been great, and it now feels like home because of the relationships we have with the rest of the players. Secondly, I don’t see myself leaving AmaZulu, as they have been great to me and I would be happy to honour that by winning a cup with them next season.
