Liverpool have officially called off their visit to South Africa after the PSL and the organizers of the tour failed to agree on a date
Liverpool was set to play Ajax Cape Town on Tuesday, May 21, only for the PSL to be against the idea, because the proposed date falls under the PSL season and it will therefore interfere with their events of the league.
“Regrettably, the South Africa Premier Soccer League has decided that this match cannot be played on this date and have subsequently advised Ajax Cape Town that this fixture should be cancelled,” reads the statement on the Liverpool’s website.
Liverpool also expressed their disappointment at failing to visit and play in front of their South African-based fans.
“We are hugely disappointed that we are unable to visit and the team cannot play in front of our terrific supporters,” Liverpool said.
“Moreover, we are saddened that we cannot at this time undertake the community and grass roots activities we had planned as part of our visit to South Africa,” reads the statement.
