In preparation for their derby game against Bloemfontein Celtic over the weekend, FreeState Stars are delighted that their player Luyolo Nomandela will be available
Nomandela picked up what looked like a serious injury when he was roughly tackled by Mamelodi Sundowns hardman Hlompho Kekane in the Absa Premiership match against Free State Stars last Tuesday.
Stars Assistant Physiotherapist Mafa Mhlambi confirmed in the club website that the injury is not as serious as it looked.
“The player's (Nomandela) injury is not fatal as it looked after the incident. It might be a suspicious collateral ligament, but he will be going to the specialist to further assess the injury,” Mhlambi explained.
Nomandela who in his debut season in the PSL has been a revelation in the club camp was substituted as early as the 21st minute after that tackle, but is now in a better state.
The youngster also told the club website that he thought the injury was serious and a possible fracture.
“It was painful and the way the ankle was swollen I thought it was serious, but thanks to the medical team who took care of the incident, because at one stage I thought my season was over. Kekane also showed good sportsmanship as he later came to me and apologized about the incident,” said Nomandela.
