Kotoko defender Sumaila: I'm joining Sundowns to break into Ghana's first team

The efficient guardsman has confirmed his departure from the Ghana Premier League as he heads to South Africa to join Sundowns
Kumasi Asante Kotoko dependable defender Rashid Sumaila, who is on loan from Cape Coast Abusua Dwarfs, will not ply his trade in the Ghanaian local league again when this current season comes to a close.

The player is on his way to the South African PSL where he has landed a mega deal with Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I will not be playing in the Ghanaian league next season as I have signed a five-year contract with South African side Sundowns,” Sumaila told Goal.com.

“The deal is good for me because it is another big avenue for me to shine after proving myself with Abusua Dwarfs and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.”

He added: “My main aim is to play well and break into the Black Stars first team for the rest of the qualifiers and also for the World Cup in Brazil next year.”

Sumaila, 20, had a successful trial with Sundowns three months ago and was also linked to SuperSports, Al Ahly and a host of Vietnamese clubs before signing the deal.
