Pirates striker Collins Mbesuma has told the club website that they are not prepared to throw the towel as yet with only five league games remaining
Mbesuma labelled Pirates game against Bidvest Wits on Saturday as a must-win, as they attempt to close the gap between them and second placed Platinum Stars.
“A game against Wits is a must-win for us. We are in a do-or-die situation right now and nothing else but three points will be enough for us. We have to give our all against Wits on Saturday. We are going to fight until the final whistle. It will be like a cup final for us,” Mbesuma told the club website.
The Zambian international also believes that Chiefs should have won the league already following the number of draws played by Pirates in the recent games.
“The fact that our opposition (Kaizer Chiefs) have not won the league after our series of draws is an indication that we had put ourselves in a strong enough position at the turn of the year to go into the final straight at full speed, but unfortunately due to a number of factors we were just unable to win matches that we should have won,” he said.
However, Mbesuma is hoping his teammates won’t lose concentration in the remaining games as this was the case in their last few games.
“Having said that, we have not given up at all. We are still committed to the cause and we are prepared to fight to the end. We need to slot away the chances that we have been creating and stop conceding soft goals towards the end of the match,” said Mbesuma.
