Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite has told Goal.com that he is enjoying his time at Naturena and he is not eyeing any call-up to the national team
Mashamaite revealed that he is not playing to impress Gordon Igesund who could be looking for a new centre-back for the 2014 World Cup qualifier matches with Morgan Gould out injured and Siyabonga Sangweni not yet at his best.
“Everyone has told me that I have been doing well and I am also happy with my contribution in the team. That’s what I was signed for,” Mashamaite told Goal.com.
“However, I am not playing to impress the national team scouts or Gordon Igesund. I would love to play for my country, but I am not obsessed with a Bafana call-up,” he said.
The 28-year-old Bochum-born defender hailed Baxter as the best coach he has ever worked with and he believes the presence of Doctor Khumalo in the technical team has made him enjoy his football again.
“The coach has been fantastic. Of all the coaches I have worked with, Baxter is the best. I have also enjoyed with Doc (Khumalo). Maybe that’s why I have been at my best,” concluded Mashamaite.
