Pirates’ full-back Thabo Matlaba will miss the rest of the remaining games due to injury, but Sifiso Myeni and Thandani Ntshumayelo have started training with the team

Orlando Pirates have confirmed that full-back Thabo Matlaba will be out for the next the eight weeks after picking an injury during their 2-all draw against Ajax Cape Town last week Wednesday.

Matlaba could also miss crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier matches for Bafana in June and would consider himself unfortunate having started his Bafana career so well.

“He (Matlaba) is expected to be hospitalised for two days, and will be on crutches for the next two weeks. Rehabilitation can start in three weeks time and he should start training within eight weeks,” said the club Physiotherapist John Williams.

In other injury related news, the club has confirmed that Andile Jali will miss Wednesday’s clash against Free State Stars due to an injury he also suffered against the Urban Warriors, while his midfield-twin Oupa Manyisa is facing a late fitness test as they travel to Qwaqwa.

However, the Buccaneers have been boosted by the return of Thandani Ntshumeyelo and Sifiso Myeni from injuries.

Myeni has started training with the rest of the squad, but the club Physiotherapist confirmed that the speedy midfielder is not going to be rushed into any action.

As you know he was out for a very long time so now he has a lot of catching up to do.  He feels okay and we got the clear from the Doctor to allow him to start training. His recovery has been great and he wants to play but we need to take it one step at a time,” said Williams.
