Maritzburg United captain Shuaib Walters is still concerned about the fact that his team has never beaten SuperSport since joining the Premier Soccer LeagueThe United goalkeeper captain, had hoped that coming into their match over the weekend that they will make his history, but that was not the case as they were bundled out of the Nedbank Cup.
Although it was Maritzburg that had scored first, but after that the team of choice did not play convincing football, committing unnecessary fouls.
Walters told Goal.com that he is disappointed with the result.
“I am disappointed. I thought that this was our opportunity to beat SuperSport especially since we are in good form and we were playing at home. I guess it is one of those games where you come prepared but only to find that you can’t implement the plan on the field,” said Walters.
Despite being disappointed about the Nedbank result, Walters said they now need to focus on the league and make sure that they finish strong, and take as many points remaining as possible.
“There is nothing much that we can do at the moment. We now need to go back to the drawing board and make sure that we finish strong in the league. We have important games in hand and we must make sure that we capitalize in all the opportunities that we get,” he said.
