With the league title race at the business end, the Kaizer Chiefs coach has raised his concerns once again about their yellow cards and injuries
Kaizer Chiefs' Bafana midfielder Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Arrows winger Tshepo Liphoko in the 33rd minute. Defender Morgan Gould also did not finish the match after suffering a knee injury.
The Bafana Bafana defender has a history of knee injuries. He had just made a comeback in January following six months of not playing. Amakhosi coach Stuart Baxter revealed afterwards that the defender suffered a crucial ligament.
“The injury looks serious and it will need a surgery. Yeye’s sending off is a massive blow because he is one of our best players,” said Baxter.
After earning a hard fought draw against an unimpressive Arrows side, Baxter felt the League title race is not over and they will have to put in an extra effort to maintain their lead.
“When we beat Celtic, people felt we had a chance. It was the same against Maritzburg. We will take each game as it comes and in my opinion, it will go down to the wire,” said Baxter.
Amakhosi, who won the Q3 of the PSL Q-Innovation, still enjoys a seven point lead over nearest rivals Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates.
