Orlando Pirates player Onyekachi Okonkwo told Goal.com that his biggest goal is to get back into the Nigeria national team
“I am putting in all the hard work so that, they can see my potential back home. It is not easy but I believe that I have a lot to offer the country,” said Okonkwo.
He made his debut for Nigeria in 2006 during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, and said it is still not too late for him to get back into the team.
"Yes, there are younger guys who are doing well and I respect that. But nothing is impossible, if I can put in all the hard work at Pirates I am sure I can still get back into the team," he said.
He sad playing for Pirates has benefited him a lot as his game has improved. With all the focus on the African Champions trophy and the PSL title, Okonkwo said that everything is still possible.
“We are the champions and we just need to act and believe in ourselves. The league is not over yet, and it will be up to us as to how we utilize the opportunities that we get.
“Being part of Pirates has been a great blessing to me. It feels like I am at home and I enjoy the hard work and competition that comes with playing for this club,” he said.
