Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has signed Belgium goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede to his current Sundowns squad
The former Bafana coach took everyone by surprise when he signed the 27-year-old goalkeeper who is expected to give Wayne Sandilands competition in the Sundowns team.
Verbauwhede played for his country and also made a name for himself in his former club, K.V Kortrijik where he went on to take penalties for the club.
It is said that, it took the goalkeeper less than two weeks to impress Pitso Mosimane who is working hard at getting the club to earn its respect once again.
A source inside the club confirmed with Goal.com that the player has signed for over a year with the club.
“Yes, he has signed with us. The only thing that I am not sure of is, whether he will stay for a year or two years before returning to Belgium. He impressed everyone at the club and soon enough the club will be announcing his signing(officially),” he said.
The goalkeeper was in the Belgium national team until recently. He got injured 18 months ago and he left Club Brugge. He had an injury and when he got fit, he didn’t sign a new contract with Brugge.
The goalkeeper also comes with quality experience from the Champions League and Europa League.
