Chabangu: Swallows gave me a second chance and I am grateful for it

Swallows midfielder Lerato Chabangu tells about his future plans at Swallows and how he is willing to get back into the Gordon Igesund starting line-up
Moroka Swallows midfielder Lerato Chabangu has told that he is aware of the criticism the fans have raised against him when playing for Bafana Bafana.

He said that he has learnt to take everything that is directed at him as a professional. Chabangu said he will continue working hard and grabbing every opportunity whenever he is given the chance to play for both Swallows and the national team.

“I know people have been saying that my performance in the national team is not the same as in Swallows’ but the truth is, I always give me my best whenever given the opportunity. I have taken the criticism positively as a professional,” said Chabangu.

The former Sundowns player also revealed that he has planned to stay at Swallows for as long as it takes and that he will always be grateful for what Swallows have done for him to save his football career.

“I am not joining any team anytime soon. I am happy at Swallows. They gave me a second chance to play my football and I am grateful for that. I am going to repay the team with loyalty and hard work,” he said.

Chabangu seems to have lost his place in the Bafana starting eleven with May Mahlangu the preferred choice in the middle of the park, but the 27-year-old says he is not worried about that because Mahlangu has been doing well in the attacking position.

However, Chabangu has vowed to work hard at club level to regain his place in the national team.

“May (Mahlangu) has been doing well. Bafana is like a team now and I am happy that he has contributed well. I will continue to work hard in order to regain my position in the coach’s starting eleven,” concluded Chabangu.
