Agent Jazzman Mahlakgane has told Goal.com that Jimmy Tau is ready to negotiate a contract extension with Chiefs following his recovery from injury

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Jimmy Tau has fully recovered from an injury that sidelined him over the past six months, and he has played competitive football in Chiefs’ reserve team in the last two weeks.

Tau played the entire 90 minutes in Chiefs 1-1 draw with SuperSport United on Monday afternoon, having played 75 minutes of football the previous week.

The player’s agent Mahlakgane told Goal.com that they are relieved and happy to see the progress made by Tau, because they can sit and discuss his future with Chiefs now.

“It is great news for the player. He’s been working hard. We will now go back to Chiefs and discuss his future because that’s where the player wants to be (at Chiefs),” Mahlakgane told Goal.com.

The two parties engaged in contract negotiations earlier this year but Tau was told to focus on his recovery, as Chiefs couldn’t offer him an extension while he was still injured and Mahlakgane confirmed that this was the case.

“Chiefs told the player to recover first before offering him a new contract, because they couldn’t risk keeping an injured player in the team, and we agreed. So he’s back in contention for selection and he is ready to sign,” said Mahlakgane.
