Nkhatha tells the club website that they won’t take NFD side Polokwane City for granted when the two sides meet in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup on SaturdayKaizer Chiefs striker Kingston Nkhatha has put the disappointments of the Soweto derby aside, as he revealed that they were unlucky not to beat Orlando Pirates last weekend.
Nkhatha made way for another Chiefs striker Sthembiso Ngcobo in the second half of that match, after he collided with Pirates keeper Senzo Meyiwa.
“Senzo hit me with his knee on my thigh and I thought the pain will go away in the second half . It did not go away and I was replaced. I was disappointed not to finish the match,” Nkhatha told Chiefs website.
The Zimbabwean striker who was signed from Black Leopards at the beginning of the season, was quick to shift his focus to the Nedbank Cup fixture against Polokwane City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.
Nkhatha promised that Amakhosi will give their NFD opponents the respect that they deserve, understanding that Polokwane City would shock them if they can underestimate them on the night.
“We have a Nedbank fixture this coming weekend and we will be turning our focus to that. In football we cannot take any opposition lightly and Polokwane City will get the same respect as any other team that Kaizer Chiefs play against,” said Nkhatha.
Nkhatha is likely to miss the upcoming clash due to the same injury he sustained against Pirates. Moreover, Stuart Baxter is likely to give the likes of Kaizer Motaung Jnr a run against Polokwane City.
Staying with the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates have confirmed the return of striker Benni McCarthy and goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs in the team, and the duo are available for selection for Pirates’ Caf champions league trip to Lusaka against Zanaco FC.
“The Orlando Pirates technical team has received a timely boost ahead of their trip to Zambia with the return of Benni McCarthy and Moeneeb Josephs,” reads the Pirates website.
Bucs will depart for Zambia on Thursday morning as they look to continue with their impressive run so far in the competition. The PSL champions ran riot against Djabal FC beating them 9-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round of the 2013 Caf champions league.
