Goal.com spoke with SuperSport United captain Thabo September, after signing a contract extension with MatsatsantsaSuperSport United defender and captain Thabo September has confirmed to Goal.com that he has signed a two-year extension to his existing contract with the Tshwane-based club, ending Pirates reported interest.
September’s contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, and the news will come as a relief to coach Gavin Hunt who maintained that he wouldn’t like to lose his captain anytime soon.
“It is true that I have signed a two-year contract with SuperSport United this morning (Tuesday),” September told Goal.com.
Apparently, September delayed to commit himself to Matsatsantsa, because there was interest from Orlando Pirates. However, United managed to convince the 30-year-old captain to stay at the club for at least two years.
September assured SuperSport United fans that he is not going to join any of the teams that are interested in him anytime soon, as he will like to see his contract with United through.
“I am not joining any team anytime soon. That is how happy I am at SuperSport United,” added September.
September came off the bench in the Tshwane derby on Sunday, and marshalled the United defence that looked vulnerable in the first half against Mamelodi Sundowns. The Western Cape-born defender has been with SuperSport United since 2006, and has won three PSL titles with them.
