Meyiwa replaces injured Khune for Brazil clash

Meyiwa has been under a lot of criticism lately, but the Orlando Pirates shot-stopper has been outstanding in the past few games for his club
Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund has called-up Senzo Meyiwa to replace captain and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune for the Brazil clash on Wednesday.

Khune suffered an ankle injury before the start of the Kaizer Chiefs' Caf Champions League game against Muculmana on Saturday night, and the Bafana skipper has now been ruled out of the international friendly.

Meyiwa will join his Bafana teammates today (Monday), where he will fight to be in the starting line-up against the 2014 Fifa World Cup hosts.

The Pirates goalkeeper has been in excellent form recently, keeping three clean sheets in the past four league games, but he faces stiff competition from Ronwen Williams, who is also in contention for Wednesday's game.

Williams was one of the two goalkeepers called up by Igesund, and with Khune now out injured, the SuperSport United number one will be hoping to get a run.

Both Wiliams and Meyiwa were in action this past weekend, and although they have little international experience, they have been brilliant in Caf competitions with their respective clubs.
