thumbnail Hello,

Thulani Serero’s manager is to meet up with the South African Football Association to iron out the controversy around his withdrawal

The Ajax Amsterdam midfielder, Serero was suspended from the Bafana camp a night before their crucial match against Botswana last month. He was accused of faking an injury to instead be fit for the Barcelona, Champions League match.

A source close to Serero told Goal that his manager Mike Ntombela is due to meet up with Safa.

“He is expected to meet up with Safa and discuss the way forward on the decision that was taken. He feels that there can be another way to deal with this, because Serero is still going to play for his country.

"The date has not yet been set, but this is something that will be done urgently,” said the source.

Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund had said that he still wants the player to be part of the squad in the near future, and Serero has impressed for Ajax lately.

Former Bafana and Leeds captain Lucas Radebe told Goal that these things are not new and it is up to the player to set his priorities.

“This used to happen even while we were still playing, but the solution is that the South African Football Association must have a good, clear relationship with the clubs and make sure that the calendar does not clash as well,” Radebe told Goal.
