Chiefs and Bafana legend Khumalo is not buying into the new International Football Academy development that will be built in Durban next year
“I think we are just wasting money with this academy. My question is: Why build many academies when you don’t know what you are going to do with it? Until I see a proper structure then I can comment more and give my thumbs up for building an academy.
“It is like going to a church and not knowing what you are,” explained Khumalo.
The Bafana legend believes that South Africa has not defined their football culture and philosophy as yet.

“We are now bringing different people from other countries with different styles of play and philosophies which results in a fruit salad at the end of the day,” he said.
On a positive note, Khumalo wanted to point out that he is hoping that Jordaan will be able to involve former national team stars into the new system.
“After we played France some years ago, Jordaan made it clear that he would want to see some of the players being involved in the game and pass our knowledge (to the next generation). I am hoping that since he is now the president, he will not forget his words,” he said.
