thumbnail Hello,

Leeds United and Kaizer Chiefs legend Lucas Radebe spoke to Goal about newly elected Safa president Danny Jordaan

Goal caught up with the former Bafana Bafana captain, Radebe at the Soccerex conference currently taking place in Durban.

“I have faith in Jordaan. I have had the opportunity to sit down with him and discuss his vision and I think he will do well,” said Radebe.

Radebe said that what South Africa needs is strong leadership from the top to help Bafana Bafana qualify for the next World Cup in Russia 2018.

“We all know what the problem was - leadership. That is why we did not qualify for the World Cup in Brazil next year. What is important at this stage is to have a strong leadership team that will take the country forward,” he said.

With many soccer legends out of jobs, Radebe said this is the opportunity for Jordaan to bring their experience into the system.

“These guys [soccer legends] have been there in the football arena and I believe they have a lot to offer. Even if we give them a chance at school level - that will help a lot.

“I know some people are saying they are not qualified, well if that is the case then they must be educated and given opportunities,” he said.
