“We would have obviously liked to win the tournament, we changed the team so many times prior to tournament. Today I had nine players on the field all under 23,” Igesund said.
Bafana Bafana were forced to make over fifteen changes to their initial squad, fielding a host of young and untested players. The benefits of the tournament included seeing the likes of Ruzaigh Gamildien and Hlompo Kekana in action, while a few defensive talents were also given the chance to shine.
With the tournament displaying some exciting matches in front of good crowd attendances, Igesund saluted Zambia for their organisation of the Cosafa Cup.
“It has been a nice tournament. First of all, I want to thank the Zambian people for the wonderful reception and kindness they showed to us,” he said.
