thumbnail Hello,

Bafana were knocked out of the Cosafa Cup on penalties having held on to their opponents for 120 minutes

Coach Gordon Igesund believes Bafana were better than Zambia despite failing to score a single goal in the entire 120 minutes.

Bafana hit the post twice in the second half and often gave away nothing, but the match had to be decided on penalties.

“Congratulations to Zambia. They won it in a penalty shoot-out, but you know it is not always the best team that wins it on the night.

“I thought we were better tonight. I thought we really dominated the game especially in the second half. We hit the post twice, but at the end of the day it was a good run out and I saw a lot of good things from my guys,” said Igesund after the match.

However, Igesund said he was a bit disappointed with the result, because he felt his inexperienced Bafana side should have been in the final.

“Obviously I am disappointed for the players, because it would have been nice to be in the final. I think we deserve to be there, but like I said, well done to Zambia and I wish them good luck,” added Igesund.
