Bafana’s Shabba looking forward to the Nelson Mandela Sports Day

Chiefs and Bafana midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala says he is looking forward to the Nelson Mandela Sports Day at the FNB Stadium on August 17

Bafana Bafana midfielder Siphiwe “Shabba” Tshabalala could not hide his excitement at the launch of the Nelson Mandela Sports Day in Johannesburg earlier this week.

The South African sports ministry have organized a sports day aimed to honour the former SA president Nelson Mandela on August 17, 2013 where Bafana and the Springboks will play at the same venue.

Gordon Igesund’s troops will take on the 2013 Afcon finalists Burkina Faso in the first match, and the Springboks will open their Rugby Championship campaign against Argentina in the second match.

“This is great news, and we are very excited about it. It’s not every day where two national teams get to play on the same day at the same venue,” Tshabalala told the reporters.

Tshabalala applauded sports minister Fikile Mbalula for the great initiative, and he also wished the former president Nelson Mandela a speedy recovery. 

“I think minister Fikile Mbalula came up with a great initiative and the nation should look forward to it. I wish Nelson Mandela could recover in time and make his way to the stadium,” added Shabba.
