A few surprises in Igesund's Bafana squad to face Lesotho before Ethiopia

South Africa's Gordon Igesund has included a few unexpected players in his 25-men squad to face Lesotho before traveling to Ethiopia
Gordon Igesund has included a few players that many didn't think will make the cut in the Bafana team as yet.

One of the surprise packages is misfiring Sundowns striker Richard Henyekane who got a nod ahead of Lehlohonolo Majoro, as the Chiefs man has not seen much of game time.

Thandani Ntshumayelo has also been included in the squad for the next three Bafana games. The Pirates midfielder has just returned from a lengthy injury, but his work rate in the middle of the park is unquestionable.

Tlou Segolela has made a comeback to the national team after being overlooked for some time and Igesund is clearly going for pace against the Central African Republic and Ethiopia in the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier matches.

Due to injuries to a few of his regular players including Morgan Gould and Siyabonga Sangweni, Igesund has opted for Erick Mathoho of Kaizer Chiefs as well as SuperSport United's Bevan Fransman.

Tebogo Langerman and Thabo Nthethe have kept their places at left-back and center-back respectively. Langerman was an obvious choice as Thabo Matlaba is still recovering from injury, but he will have tough competition from Tsepo Masilela who wasn't available when Bafana beat CAR in Cape Town.

Swallows' Katlego Mashego and Tefu Mashamaite deservedly made the cut having worked so hard at their respective clubs.

Mashego has had a remarkable season and is currently on top of the goalscoring charts with 13 goals this season, while Mashamaite has had a season to remember at AmaKhosi as he was instrumental in the team winning the league this season.
